  1. Lovely pictures thanks for posting :). I never seem to see owls in my walks in weaselhead/fish creek etc. I think I may just have to look harder 😉

  2. Beautiful pictures, thankyou. I love owls.
I have had a Varied Thrush in my backyard lately. It is a lovely little bird but I am not sure that it likes the food. It sees the other birds eating and it tries the seed but I am not sure it likes it. does anyone have any suggestions?

    • Varied Thrushes eat nuts and fruit in winter. Try putting out any small frozen or fresh berries like cranberries, or mixed nuts for birds. They usually feed on the ground, so just clear a spot in a safe place and scatter the food there. Of course squirrels and birds will eat these things too so you might have to put out food regularly or in several spots so the thrush can find some. When I had a Varied Thrush in winter, it would eat very small sunflower chips that you get in bird feed stores, spread on the ground.
Where are you located? In the city?

  3. I love this blog. It’s one of my favourites. A great snowy flew over my head in Nanton the other night. Beautiful but scary too. Gorgeous photos!
